Agilent (www.agilent.com) has proven that wide screens are not just for flat-panel TVs, computers or movies anymore, as its InfiniiVision 2000 X and 3000 X DSO/MSO series offer a wide 8.5-in. screen on an oscilloscope. The 3000 X’s wide screen, high-resolution format can handle up to 1,000,000 updates per second, while the 2000 X series updates 50,000 times per second. The scope’s displays use intensity gradients to allow users to view the waveform’s frequency when it passes a pixel, which is useful for locating signal anomalies.
Aside from having various functions expected in mid-range oscilloscopes, the company’s 3000 X series can also be used as a signal source. It is designed with a built-in function generator that produces square, sine, ramp and pulse signals as frequencies up to 10 MHz square and pulse, 100-kHz ramp and 20 MHz (sine wave). The function generator is offered as an upgrade or as an option.
The 2000 X and 3000 X series are available in 26 models (four-channel and two-channel). The 2000 X series bandwidths include 100 MHz, 70 MHz and 200 MHz, while the 3000 X series bandwidths are 200 MHz, 100 MHz, 500 MHz and 350 MHz. The 3000 X series MSO features 16 logic inputs, while the 2000 X series MSO version provides eight inputs. Logic inputs are available either as options or as upgrades. Segmented memory and mask testing are also offered as options or upgrades. The series’ educator’s lab kit option includes a demo board.
For PC connectivity, the scopes feature two USB ports, one in the front panel and one in the rear. The series also offers optional ports such as GPIB and Ethernet for instrument control.
