Lockheed Martin and AAI chose ZTEC Oscilloscope for US Navy’s eCASS Program

ZTEC Instruments (www.ztecinstruments.com) has announced that Textron Systems AAI Corp and Lockheed Martin chose the ZT4628 oscilloscope for the Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS) of the US Navy to test military aircraft on shore-based depots and naval aircraft carriers.

The Navy, under the eCass program, will replace around 600 land- and ship-based CASS systems with approximately 340 new eCASS units. The company not only delivers highly accurate measurement capabilities, but also a flexible bus-agnostic approach to test, enabling mil/aero contractors and system integrators save money and time by capitalizing on the modular instruments’ technical benefits without the need to reconfigure the current system to a new form factor.

Lockheed Martin has required an oscilloscope as the primary eCASS instrument that would meet specific performance and compatibility requirements. They have selected ZTEC due to the company’s extensive mil/aero industry knowledge, ability to understand the demands of the application and experience with test systems.

Helping engineers across the mil/aero industry, including system integrators and contractors, the ZT4628 oscilloscope modernize test systems with various specifications that includes deep and segmented multi-capture memory, FFT capability and optimized measurement capability that features waveform math and acquisition modes. The dual channel oscilloscope provides comprehensive calibration and self-test functionality as well as advanced digital and analog triggering.

The ZT4628 oscilloscope allowed Lockheed Martin to meet both the performance and compatibility requirements while spending 30 percent less than the previous RT-CASS solution.

Joining the increasing number of automakers, Aston Martin has chosen Pico diagnostic kit to support its entire portfolio of vehicles. The kit can also be conveniently expanded to support its latest models.

An essential tool in car manufacturing, the PicoScope automotive oscilloscope kit enables Aston Martin to provide world-class service, performance and reliability. This oscilloscope kit turns a PC into a diagnostic tool that can be utilized in all models and makes of vehicles. Its four-channel oscilloscope allows users to view voltage and waveforms of every electrical component, such as starter motors and fuel pumps, injection patterns and complex multi-cylinder ignition, MAP and airflow sensors, including LIN bus and CAN bus physical signals.

“We were impressed by Pico’s willingness to listen to our requirements, offer advice, and come up with a solution. It is obvious that they greatly enjoy the work they do, and take pride in doing it well,” said Steve Tiltman, Technical Service, Publications and Training Manager at Aston Martin.

“We are very happy with the quality and value of Pico’s diagnostic kit, and the way it has been customized to our needs. I am sure that the kit will significantly improve the efficiency of our dealers and content of our training program. Pico are amongst the most accommodating suppliers that I have dealt with,” he added.

“We are delighted that Aston Martin has become the latest vehicle manufacturer to choose our oscilloscope diagnostic kit. This shows that the kit is a match for the highest-performing vehicles on the road,” said Alan Tong, Managing Director at Pico Technology.

PCB Steering Wheel Enables Data Measurements

steering wheelPCB Automotive Sensors, a division of PCB Piezotronics, introduces their new Instrumented Steering Wheel System, Model 5610-10A, for vehicles that enables true-to-life data measurements. The telemetry-based steering wheel with supplied adaptors can be installed in the same position as the OEM steering wheel to provide similar ergonomic feel and driving dynamics. The unit is equipped with integrated sensors to measure angle, angular rate, and torque. The vehicle’s active Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is fully supported and not compromised. PCB® Model 5610-10A units provide advanced integrated function keys, which include autozero for both steering angle and steering torque, shunt calibration, and function lock. The four integral switches located on the steering wheel within thumbs reach allow the unit user-programmable controlling options. Equipped with an integrated inductive power supply, Model 5610-10A Instrumented Steering Wheel Systems provide continuous running wireless operation.

The accompanying compact signal conditioning unit is designed for use where space is at a premium. Measured signals are retrieved directly from the signal conditioner via electrically isolated connectors. An optional CAN interface, for integration with data acquisition systems, or a USB interface used with computers, are available for further data recording and analysis.
