Redfish Instruments releases the iDVM, which is the only DMM on the market that works on Apple’s iOS devices. The iOS device and App wirelessly acquires voltage, current, and resistance measurements from the device. The data can be saved, analyzed, and shared on the Apple i-device through CSV files, plots, spoken measurements so your eyes can stay on target, and an ad-hoc webserver.
With a price tag of $295 I expect this innovative product to give Fluke a run for their money on entry level DMMs, especially if it is reliable and the interface works. I can’t wait to get my hands on one for a test drive!
Ever since the early days of my engineering career I have yearned for electrical tools with better integration with computers. So why not integrate test and measurement tools with the best hardware integrators on the planet? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Handheld ADSL2+ Tester Measures Distances Up To 6.5km

GAO Instruments has announced the release of its easy-to-use ADSL2+ tester which tests ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+ and RE-ADSL2 lines. This multi-function tester quickly determines the type of line under test and loads the applicable ADSL line standard automatically. It performs TX and RX data packet accounting, PING testing and ISP login simulation.
This compact ADSL2+ tester, model A0300010, automatically transmits VPI, VCI, user name and password according to embedded configuration parameters input via accompanying software. It supports a maximum measurement distance of 6.5km and stores one hundred groups of test results, along with configurations and margins, which can be uploaded to a computer for analysis. Test results are clearly displayed on the high resolution backlit LCD screen which also indicates alert conditions and the connectivity of WAN or LAN. In addition, the operator only needs to enter the configuration, set the measurement margin and parameters, and with the press of a single key, ADSL2+ line parameter testing, modem simulation and ISP login are conveniently completed.
Intelligent Handheld Power Meter Has 10-60kHz Range

GAO Fiber Optics released its intelligent handheld power meter with an identification frequency range of 10Hz to 60kHz. It is used in telecommunications and CATV maintenance and fiber optics facilities. This handheld power meter measures absolute power and relative loss of fiber optic cables. It is characterized by its wide range of power measurement, fast speed, high test precision and auto frequency identification which provides great convenience and excellent performance in measurement.
This full featured power meter, model 08121, tests optical power within a wavelength range from 800nm to 1650nm over a measurement range of -70dBm to 6dBm. Pre-calibrated wavelengths include 850, 980, 1300, 1310, 1490, and 1550nm; additional optional calibrated wavelengths are available. The power meter displays tested power output in mW, dB and dBm on its large high definition LCD screen. It has a memory capacity of 240 records and a RS232 communication port for data transmission. The easy-to-use power meter is resistant to dust and water and features quick response without requiring warm-up. It has an FC universal 2.5mm adaptor and offers FC, SC and ST interchangeable connectors for selection. An auto-off function kicks within ten minutes of inactivity for power saving.

as transformers, electro-motors, cables, switches,home appliances, and insulation materials. This digital insulation tester features automatic turn-off function and double insulation protection. This handheld digital insulation tester, model A0310005,performs measurements including insulation resistance, continuity, AC/DC voltage and frequency. It conducts continuity measurements using either 200mA test current or 7mA test current.The tester displays test results on a high-definition backlit LCD screen and stores up to 1000 results. The output voltage of insulation resistance testing can be set to 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V, or 1000V to meet various requirements.
