Tektronix (www.tek.com) has introduced a 500 MHz oscilloscope from the DPO7000C Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope family — the DPO7054C. This four channel oscilloscope delivers a record length of up to 12.5 M points and a maximum real-time sampling rate of 20 GS/s on a single channel and five GS/s on all four channels.
The oscilloscope offers a robust set features which allows it to expedite every stage of debugging the design — from discovering and capturing an anomaly, to searching the waveform record for the event and analyzing the characteristics of the event.
To effectively debug a design problem, one must be aware of its existence. Without the help of the right debug tools, searching for problems in the design can be a very frustrating task.
Just like any other oscilloscope in the DPO7000C Series, the DPO7054C provides a complete visualization of signals, offering quick insight into the real operation of the device. Designed with Tektronix proprietary FastAcq technology, the oscilloscope enables users to view glitches and other infrequent transients. The oscilloscope also features a digital phosphor display with color intensity grading, which shows the signal’s activity history by using color to easily identify areas of the signal occurring more frequently.
To understand the root cause of the device fault, one must capture the event of interest. The DPO7054C offers a comprehensive set of triggers that include glitch, runt, timeout, width, pattern, transition, setup/hold violation, state, comm, window and serial pattern, to help users easily locate the event. Enhanced Triggering minimizes trigger jitter at a particular trigger point. Thus, the trigger point in this mode can be utilized as a measurement reference by the user.
