TR Electronic (www.trelectronic.com) has introduced the ProfiNET LE-200 laser distance measurement system that features the company’s phase-shift differential technology.
Providing a communication option to customers searching for real-time, closed loop distance feedback application solutions, the LE-200 delivers reliable and accurate positioning technology with one of the market’s leading industrial Ethernet interfaces. Unlike traditional technology, the ProfiNET enabled laser distance measurement system offers a new interface option to challenging, longer-distance applications.
Generally, laser-based measuring devices have been integrated with high-speed interfaces such as fieldbus or SSI technologies to deliver the needed response time for precision measurement. With the LE-200, TR was the first company to provide the market with a long-range laser measuring device with EtherNET/IP, and the release of the ProfiNET version reflects its commitment to support all leading industrial Ethernet protocols.
Providing customers with a clear migration path, the ProfiNET LE-200 laser distance measurement system is also available with numerous protocol options including DeviceNET, EtherNET/IP, Interbus, Profibus and CAN interfaces.
A laser-based system, the LE-200’s emitter/receiver faces a target, which can either be a clean surface, flat or a reflective target. Since the distance between the target and the receiver/emitter varies, the device evaluates the position and transmits it to the control system. Depending on the position of available control system wiring and power, either the reflector or the laser device is fixed while the other end moves relative to it.
A standard position sensing product, the ProfiNET LE-200 laser features a measuring range of 0.2 to 240 meters and an accuracy rate of +/- 2 mm. It also comes with heating and cooling options for the most extreme environments.
