5G NR Measurement Software for MT8870A Universal Test Set

August 21, 2018 By Lee Teschler Leave a Comment

Two software packages for the Anritsu Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A support 3GPP-compliant tests on 5G sub-6 GHz New Radio (NR) chipsets, devices, and systems. Part of Anritsu’s on-going development of test solutions to aid in the rollout of 5G, the new software, coupled with the MT8870A’s best-in-class measurement speed, can lower test costs and speed time-to-market of 5G products.

With the NR TDD sub-6-GHz Uplink TX Measurement MX887019A and NR TDD sub-6-anritsuGHz Downlink Waveforms MV887019A software installed, the MT8870A can conduct fully automatic 3GPP-defined 5G NR sub-6-GHz physical layer TRx tests on 5G equipment. The MT8870A mainframe has a standard seamless frequency band up to 6 GHz and 160 MHz bandwidth, so no additional hardware is necessary for greater cost efficiencies.

The new software expands the capabilities of the Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A, which is designed for high-volume test of cellular and connectivity wireless systems. In addition to 5G NR, the test set supports the latest LTE, NB-IoT, Cat-M, WLAN and Bluetooth standards, all of which are integrated into next-generation mobile designs. With four modules installed in the MT8870A, four devices under test (DUTs) can be connected and measured simultaneously. Different wireless communications systems can be measured in parallel, as well, helping reduce measurement times and line test equipment footprint.

The new software options for the Universal Wireless Test Set MT8870A is the most recent addition to Anritsu’s growing 5G test solution portfolio, which also includes the Spectrum/Signal Analyzer MS269xA series and Spectrum/Signal Analyzer MS2850A, which have been enhanced to address the development and manufacture of 5G equipment.
