Agilent’s 86100C DCA-J offers 4 instruments in 1 package

Agilent (www.agilent.com) has introduced a device that combines four instruments in one, the 86100C Infiniium DCA-J. It is a full-featured wide bandwidth oscilloscope, a digital communications analyzer, a jitter analyzer and a time-domain reflectometer.

The device harmoniously blends impressively high accuracy and repeatability with ease of use to offer simplified characterization of signals that ranges from 50 MHz to 80 GHz.

Functioning as an oscilloscope, the 86100C Infiniium DCA-J features an electrical bandwidth of up to 80 GHz to ensure the most accurate waveforms and pulse fidelity. The device also comes with pattern lock design which allows single-valued waveform viewing even at the fastest bit rates, when no frame trigger of separate pattern is available.

The 86100C Infiniium DCA-J can also function as a digital communications analyzer. It has been designed with automated eye diagram analysis, which offers the most intuitive and easiest method for observing high-speed digital communications waveforms. It was specifically developed to provide the most accurate and easy-to-use system to view both electrical and optical digital communications signals.

It offers a built-in optical reference receiver, the most accurate extinction ratio measurements, an optical bandwidth that exceeds 66 GHz and a built-in equalization for analysis of dispersion limited signals. For the most accurate waveform fidelity, the device delivers an optical bandwidth of more than 65 GHz.

The 86100C Infiniium DCA-J is also a jitter and interference analyzer, which automatically measures subcomponent jitter sources with a simple, one-button setup and execution of jitter analysis.

For high precision impedance and S-parameter analysis, the device also functions as a time domain reflectometer (TDR/TDT).
