Agilent (www.agilent.com) has introduced a compact oscilloscope that leverage similar third-generation MegaZoom III technology blocks utilized in higher performing lab and bench oscilloscope — fast update rates with reduced “dead time”, responsive deep memory, integrated serial analysis and analog-like display system, the DSO5032A.
This dual channels oscilloscope offers bandwidth of 300 MHz, a sampling rate of up to two GSa/s and a maximum memory depth of eight Mpts. It also features a vertical resolution of up to 12 bits, which is achieved by filtering the data points serially and mapping the results to the display when working at base time setting more than 10 μs/div.
The oscilloscope also comes with an E2690B Oscilloscope tools package, which allows for easier in-depth analysis of captured signals. It features a five-digit hardware counter that measures frequency up to the oscilloscope’s bandwidth. Its autoscale function provides a display of all active signals, while setting the horizontal, vertical and trigger controls automatically.
With 23 automatic measurements, users can get up to four simultaneous measurements and five additional statistics. Its fast update rate delivers statistical data for enabled measurements like min, mean, standard deviation, max and count.
The oscilloscope’s waveform math functions include multiply, subtract, Fast Fourier Transforms (FFT) as well as integrate and differentiate.
Optimizing the oscilloscope’s available memory for data streams with long dead times between activity, the segmented memory is useful for analyzing signal activity related with serial buses, laser pulses and bursty signals like radar. The oscilloscope’s segmented memory also allows users to view an overlay of the whole signal segments, while emphasizing the current segment. Rapidly moving between segments enables users to view signal detail related with a particular segment.
