LeCroy’s WavePro 740Zi-A Oscilloscope

July 13, 2011 By Test and Measurement Editor Leave a Comment

LeCroy (www.lecroy.com) has introduced four GHZ oscilloscope from its WavePro 7 Zi-A Series that delivers a maximum sampling rate of 40 GS/s, the WavePro 740Zi-A.

This four channel oscilloscope features a proprietary X-Stream II architecture that supports capturing, measuring, zooming and analyzing of multiple waveforms even at a maximum depth of 256 Mpts. Offering a processing speed that is 10 to 100 times faster than its close competitor, this proprietary architecture design is augmented with high-speed serial data buses, an Intel Core 2 Quad processor (12 GHz effective clock rate), eight GB of RAM and Windows 7 64-bit OS.

The oscilloscope’s optional high-speed 325 MB/s Serial Interface Bus (LSIB) offers data transfer that is 20 to 100 times faster than any other testing device. It also supports standard LXI features such as a VXI11 Discovery, LAN interface, IVI-C & IVI-COM drivers and a web server.

Containing selectable input capabilities of 50 Ω and one MΩ, the oscilloscope offers both ProLink and ProBus input types, allowing eight probes to be attached and multiplexed by remote control or from the front panel.

Using the WaveScan function, users can search a captured waveform for various measurement parameters or conditions and view search results, set complex conditions on the waveforms and in a table, and then quickly jump and zoom in to an entry.

The oscilloscope also offers a powerful combination of 10 different SMART triggers, TriggerScan, high bandwidth Edge and four-stage Cascade triggering as standard, allowing users to easily isolate problems and immediately focus on the cause. Its high-speed serial trigger allows triggering on a maximum of 3.125 Gb/s serial patterns of a maximum length of 80-bits. It also offers various protocol serial triggers that include SPI, I2C, RS-232, UART, LIN, CAN, MIL-STD-1553 and FlexRay.
