Unlike real-time oscilloscopes, the PicoScope 9201A PC Sampling Oscilloscope from Pico Technology (www.picotech.com) builds up a repetitive signal’s picture by seamlessly combining the samples from numerous cycles of the waveform. This makes the sampling oscilloscope a vital tool for analyzing electrical communications standards and characterizing cables, connectors, printed circuit boards and IC packages.
Available at a much cheaper cost than a comparable real-time oscilloscope, the PicoScope 9201A delivers a highly effective sampling rate of up to five TS/s with fast time bases of between 10 ps/div and 50 ms/div.
This two channel oscilloscope offers 12 GHz bandwidth, enabling users to conveniently analyze a wide array of standards including InfiniBand, Ethernet up to 10G, G.703 up to 155 Mb, XAUI and ANSI T1 up to STS3. Its analysis function include FFT, automatic eye-pattern measurements with statistics and high-resolution cursors, while its trigger inputs include a 10 GHz prescaled trigger and a 1 GHz direct trigger.
With 20 percent lower noise, the oscilloscope provides five dB better interchannel isolation than the PicoScope 9201, its predecessor, plus many other upgraded specifications. In addition, its PC software has been optimized with more than 70 new standard masks such as Serial ATA up to three Gb/s, PCI Express up to five Gb/s and RapidIO up to 3.125 Gb/s. With a USB 2.0 port, the PicoScope 9201A can easily connect to any Vista or Windows XP computer.
