USB-connected vector signal generators produce 2 GHz, 4 GHz analog outputs

vsgxg1Saelig Company, Inc. has announced the availability of Triarchy Techologies’ VSG2G1 and VSG6G1 RF Vector Signal Generators – very cost effective USB-connected portable, pocketable RF signal sources with capabilities that provide features and functions comparable to full-size analog RF signal generators. Offering frequency ranges up to 2.2GHz (VSG2G1) or 6.2GHz (VSG6G1), frequency sweep, frequency hopping using I&Q modulation, and arbitrary signal generation are possible. The compact signal sources can generate most RF signal modulations that RF engineers might need, since the VSGxG1’s many test functions can be customized to meet the needs of proprietary and other nonstandard wireless protocols. Both of the VSGxG1 models are ideal for field test situations since they are compact, convenient, and can be configured to operate without a connected PC. They can also operate in ATE systems as a signal source module, simulating many different RF systems for test purposes.

With output levels up to 10dBm (Band 0&1) signals can be delivered in CW, sweeping, and hopping modes. The units feature a built-in pulse generator for creating pulse modulation. The arbitrary function generator adds to the ability to generate a wide range of modulation modes, such as: I&Q modulation, AM, PM, FM analog, FSK, ASK, PSK, MSK, GMSK, SFSK, as well as digital modulation schemes such as QPSK, 8PSK, QAM, and phase modulation types such as CDMA, TMDA, GSM and more. A reference clock input and output is provided.

Power is delivered via the USB connection, or an external battery pack can be used for standalone portable operation.

Compact (4″ x 1″ x 1″) and housed in a light (3oz) metal case, the signal output is provided via an N connector, while the I&Q connector provides I&Q input and output. A pulse output is available at the rear of the unit for synchronization purposes or when using the device as pulse generator. Intuitive PC software provided displays a simple desktop instrument front panel for adjustments and setup.
