Teledyne LeCroy, Inc., the worldwide leader in Bluetooth® protocol analysis and testing services is pleased to announce the availability of cellular testing as an expansion of its connected car testing services at its Automotive Technology Center in Farmington Hills, MI. Automotive manufacturers and suppliers can now ensure that vehicles and systems provide flawless 4G LTE connectivity for in-vehicle apps and emergency services, and can do so without spending capital on cellular testing gear.
Teledyne LeCroy selected Spirent Communications plc, a worldwide leader in cellular performance and global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) location testing solutions, as its technology partner to deliver the new service offering. The service creates a virtual test track, allowing manufacturers to ensure that capabilities such as Wi-Fi hot spot, streaming media, and emergency calling all perform as intended. Virtual test tracks exercise the vehicle as it moves between 3G and 4G coverage, across carrier and roaming and country borders, and as it experiences areas of marginal coverage, interference and high cell loading.
“Customers have been telling us how much drive testing is costing during development and with each software change,” said David Bean, General Manager of Teledyne LeCroy’s Consumer Protocol Group. “Now they can get a more repeatable and reliable result at a fraction of the cost.”
“Teledyne LeCroy is the go-to authority for Bluetooth testing, serving 9 of the top 10 auto manufacturers,” said Rob VanBrunt, General Manager of Spirent’s Connected Devices Business Unit. “We’re pleased to help pioneer this new testing service for the automotive industry to use to test LTE technologies, and set the standard for future 5G connectivity testing.
