Tektronix (www.tek.com) has launched a new series of oscilloscope that is specially designed for students and for first time oscilloscope users. The TDS1000C-EDU digital oscilloscope series comes with built-in tools and an Education Resource CD that will help users master the use of an oscilloscope.
Offered at an affordable price starting from €680, the new series allows educators to train their students on the use of an important tool which they will also use when they begin to work — the oscilloscope. Based on the company’s popular oscilloscope platform, the TDS1000C-EDU series delivers digital real-time sampling on all channels enabling students to simultaneously characterize a vast array of signals types.
To make the scope easy to operate and simple to learn, Tektronix has packed it with features that include an autoset function for easy setting up of the device (which can also be disabled by the instructor), intuitive front panel with USB Connectivity and dedicated controls, an automated probe check wizard, built-in help menus and multiple language support.
The scope provides flexible triggering options such as pulse width trigger, edge trigger and line selectable triggering which allows users to easily capture waveforms. From an analysis view, the TDS1000C-EDU series offers extensive capabilities including standard FFT, screen cursors, waveform math (+, -, x) plus 16 automated measurements.
Aside from the Education Resource CD, the scope also comes with two primers, two labs and instructor’s guide. The Introduction to Oscilloscope Probes Student Lab and Instructor’s Guide explains how probes can affect the quality of measurement and the fundamentals of oscilloscope operation.
Meanwhile, two of the most popular primers are offered in this series package — the ABCs of Probes and XYZs of Oscilloscope. These materials simplify the integration of the series into the current curriculum used by the educators.
