Test instrument maker Teledyne LeCroy is opening a new Automotive Technology Center in Farmington Hills, Mich. The company is also creating a special Automotive Solutions Group said to have core competencies aimed at helping companies advance the development and use of a wide range of technologies within the connected car.

transparent carThe Teledyne LeCroy Automotive Solutions Group is aimed at simplifying the task of developing more complex and ever more connected vehicles and at thoroughly testing design implementations to ensure the many systems and technologies work together in harmony. The Group is said to bring together world-class testing tools and equipment, a comprehensive automotive and mobile device library, and leading test engineers focused on the automotive industry with expertise across a wide range of technologies.

The Automotive Solutions Group will offer assistance with root cause and protocol analysis for testing wired inter-system networks including CAN Bus, CAN FD and FlexRay. It will also provide help in troubleshooting wireless IoT networks using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC technologies as well as with the debugging of wired protocols like USB, Ethernet and HDMI. At the Automotive Technology Center, Teledyne LeCroy staff will be available to help test and troubleshoot mechanical and drivetrain system issues, servo and motor controls, automotive and cyber security, technology conformance and compliance challenges, and help to identify and resolve safety concerns. Teledyne says the end goal of the Automotive Solutions Group is to improve overall customer vehicle ratings across key categories, including safety, security, durability, performance, conformance, interoperability, and reliability.

“Our customers are really excited about our new auto tech center,” says Paul Russel, VP Engineering Testing Services. “We’re giving them the tools and services they need right now to solve their development and technology related issues – fast! We’re local and already working on day one with key automotive companies here in the Detroit area.”

“There has never been a more comprehensive set of tools and expertise available to the automotive industry,” said David Bean, General Manager. “The Teledyne LeCroy products and services offerings here in the Detroit area at our new auto tech center is unrivaled. It’s making it easier for companies to get the products out to market faster and better – generating huge savings along the way.”
