Agilent (www.agilent.com) has announced the addition of faster PC hardware in the family of Infiniium 90000 Series oscilloscope. The 90000 Infiniium Series features waveform update rates 20 times faster than other scopes available in the market, making it the most responsive in its class.
Engineers working on high-speed serial data links such as SATA, USB or PCI Express depend on oscilloscopes to measure jitter and other signal parameters. Working on complex analysis is critical and time consuming. A jitter separation, for instance, takes more than 30 seconds to run on other competitive scopes with 20 Mpts memory. With the latest enhancement to the Infiniium 90000 Series, the time spent on jitter separation is reduced to less than two seconds only. This performance superiority, together with the 1Gpts of memory offered in the series, allows developers to easily document results of their design performance over various test conditions.
To maintain its responsiveness, oscilloscopes require processing power when manipulating complex algorithms. This enables engineers to account for the effects of probes, channels and fixtures on high-speed signals. The series’ InfiniiSim waveform transformation software (N5465A), which uses hardware acceleration, takes advantage of the latest enhancements to deliver superior waveform update rates for measurements that require de-embedding algorithms.
“Delivering best-in-class oscilloscopes clearly takes an ongoing commitment to investing in key scope technologies, but it’s also key to leverage industry performance enhancements in PC platform technology,” said Jay Alexander, general manager and vice president of Agilent’s oscilloscope organization. “We’re excited about helping engineers save significant time making measurements as well as giving them access to measurements they can’t perform on other scopes.”
